Example HSDPA Application > Securely Connect Mobile Computer Users to Corporate LAN using HSDPA router with VPN

Secure connections for mobile computer users (including kiosks, payment terminals and other security type devices) can be enabled using VPN (IPSEC, PPTP and L2TP for example) connection over a cellular data network. This allows the remotely connected device to securely access data and work with server-based applications for real-time deployment of solutions any where with cellular data network coverage.

Example Solution

HSDPA router for WAN backup

In this example, a mobile worker (e.g. an insurance sales person) can securely connect to customer service applications residing in his corporate office's server. The HSDPA router will establish an encrypted connected with the office's VPN server and assign an 'local IP address' to the mobile worker's laptop - this allows the laptop to work seemlessly with the server's applications, as if he is actually plugged into the LAN port at his desk.

Some of the features of the FATBOX HSDPA router that facilitates succesful implementation of this solution includes,
  • Support for IPSEC, PPTP and L2TP VPN client function to enable secure mobile/remote connection
  • Automatic reconnection if dropped data session (PPP) is detected by watch dog
  • Auto PING function tests connection to the application server, else reboot to establish a new session
  • Wide power supply 5~30VDC ensure stability of operation
  • Industrial design and all metal construction for durability
